I’ve been sewing since 1994 – although I feel like I didn’t get serious about it until ten years in – and I still feel overwhelmed when I go into the fabric store. So what gives me the right to crank out 50,000+ words on the topic of fabrics and such?
I’m a solution-oriented person who loves helping other people. I’ve accumulated a pretty-good fabric reference library over the years and I’ve learned quite a bit the hard way – by making the wrong choice and then paying for it. I’ve taken college-level classes in pattern drafting and textiles. I’m not bad at wordsmithing and I wish I’d had a guide like this twenty years ago. And that’s why I created this site.
I live in the northwestern United States and when I’m not staring at a screen of some sort, I’m probably sewing. Or asleep.
